Measured groundwater table profiles during series A


thanks to Gerd for doing these figures. Shows a phreatic surface we would expect under different lagoon levels. from this we have calculated a value of hydraulic conductivity for a gravel beach - possibly the very first direct measurement of this important parameter

It is important to note that a) these readings are from PTs buried in the barrier and do not reflect the phreatic surface, which is why they show a reduction in flow as the area under the seepage face is approached, b) the estimate of hydraulic conductivity was made solely based on the barrier geometry and the measured volumetric flowrate, allowing for the small leakage under the gate and assuming laminar flow. The flow is infact turbulent so if on eo fthe team has a turbulent seepage model they can try the data with let me know.
